We are so excited to announce that we have MOVED!!!  We've been in our original location for 5 years now and thanks to your patronage, we have completely outgrown our 1500 square foot shop!  The best news is that the new shop is only across the street and down a few doors from the current location.  The new shop is located in The Old Mill building, currently the home of Appalachian Outfitters.  In addition to BMS, The Downtown Bakery has joined us in this exciting move! We have renovated our space in this 108 year old building, our "husband headquarters" went from two chairs to a large comfy couch and a rocker, we doubled our notions wall, added a reading nook filled with books, patterns, and a classroom that is twice as large with a huge cutting table... a total of 2500 square feet of pure quilting heaven!!! The new owner of the Old Mill Building is making a lot of improvements to the building and is now in the process of constructing a common area for the shops.  You will enter BMS and AO from the left side of the building (where the off street parking lot is located), through a beautiful front entrance. So be sure to come by and see our new look, I think you will be very pleased with the much needed elbow room in this great historic building! May all your stitches be a blessing, Karen

With all the wonderful NEW classes you might be wondering what will happen to all the OLDIES BUT GOODIES. Well, rest assured they are still here! Here is a little about each, but for full descriptions, be sure to check out our classes page. Beginner Quiltmaking - Roxanne will teach you everything for a firm quilting foundation. Learn Quilt Binding - a 'must do' for every beginner. Zippers Galore - Linda will share her tips and techniques for perfect zippers. Pursemaking Palooza - Kay will encourage you to create that one of a kind purse with a pocket for everything. Toothbrush Rug making - Mary will pass on this age old rug making technique. Machine Quilting - Helen will instruct you on everything from 'stitch in the ditch' to free motion on your home sewing machine. Paper Piecing - Ann will teach you all of the tricks for making perfect points every time as you 'sew on the line'. Sewing Machine Repair Barry from the Atlanta Sewing Center will be at BMS to service and repair machines by appointment only You must drop off your machine by Friday, July 23 before closing.	Saturday, July 24th by appt only
1 Million Pillowcase Challenge BMS has joined an exciting year long national challenge, spearheaded by American Patchwork & Quilting.  Independent quilt shops will work together in 2010 to create and donate 1 million pillowcases to local charities, with the message, "Make a Pillowcase, Make a Difference". Many worthy organizations and causes can benefit from pillowcases, including nursing homes, domestic violence shelters, foster children and the homeless.  I know that we have many in our community who would be touched with this gift, so join us on July 23  from 3 - 7 for a pillowcase making "sew-in". Stay an hour or stay the whole time. We have made this special time of during and after shop hours, so that those who work outside of the home will be able to share in this effort. We will provide free patterns for many creative pillowcases, so bring your own fabric or pick something from our fabulous selection.  If you cannot join us, you could still participate by purchasing a pillowcase kit for another quilter to make!! Georgia Quilt Show Contest A new quilt contest has been announced for 2010! "Seeking Color Harmony" is a contest designed to let you discover your inner quilter.  Be it traditional or contemporary, folk or art quilt - capture whatever motivates you to quilt.  Best of Show prize will be $1,000 and an additional $4,500 will be distributed for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards in three different categories.
